3 including a girl killed in indiscriminate firing of troops

Killing of demonstrators by troops widely denounced
Srinagar, July 31 : In occupied Kashmir, two teenagers including a girl were martyred when Indian paramilitary troops opened fire on peaceful demonstrators at Kreeri in Pattan and Naidkhai in Sumbal, today. Four protesters were killed and over two hundred injured, yesterday, due to the indiscriminate firing of the troops in Sopore and Pattan areas.
One of the injured in Pattan succumbed to his injuries, today. These killings raised the number of martyred Kashmiri protesters to seven during the last two days.
The occupation authorities imposed indefinite curfew in the entire Kashmir valley, today, to prevent people from protesting against the killings. Thousands of troops and police personnel were seen patrolling in major towns of the territory.
Defying curfew, hundreds of people including women and children took to the streets in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Bijbehara, Awantipora, Pampore, Achabal, Khaimoh, Dooru, Tral, Kulgam, Sangam, Naidkhai and Sumbal areas and staged forceful demonstrations.
Thousands of people at Sheeri and Amargarh areas participated in funeral prayers of three of the martyred youth. Dozens of people were injured when the troops resorted to brute force to disperse protesters at different places, today.
The APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who continued to remain under house arrest, in a statement in Srinagar, while denouncing the killing of protesters, deplored that India was using brute tactics to suppress Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom struggle. Hurriyet leaders, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi, Aasiya Andrabi, Yasmeen Raja, Masarrat Alam Butt, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Jamaat-e-Islami, High Court Bar Association, National Front, Democratic Political Movement and Salvation Movement in their separate statements also condemned the killings.
Police arrested Chief editor of a local Urdu daily, Meraj-ud-din Wani, along with his son Iqbal Wani from Saida Kadal in Srinagar.

Curfew imposed in whole Kashmir valley


Srinagar, July 31 : In occupied Kashmir, the authorities have announced imposition of curfew in entire Kashmir Valley to prevent people from holding protests against the killings of four civilians by police and CRPF men on Friday.
The authorities have imposed curfew in Srinagar and other major cities and towns of the Valley, deploying heavy contingents of Indian troops and police. Four persons were martyred and over two hundred injured on Friday when Indian troops and police personnel resorted to firing, heavy baton charge and excessive teargas shelling to disperse protesters in Sopore and Pattan areas.
An official spokesperson talking to mediamen said, “curfew will remain in force in the whole city on Saturday.”
On the other hand, media-persons again have been facing problems, as their curfew passes are not being entertained by troops and police personnel at several places.  The journalists have to waste a lot of time in arguing with the police and plead that they should be allowed to proceed. This is happening despite the assurances by the authorities that the curfew passes will be entertained.

Killing of a civilian triggers demos in Srinagar


Srinagar, Jul 19 In occupied Kashmir, Indian police resorted to excessive teargas shelling and heavy baton charge at Batamaloo in Srinagar to disperse demonstrators protesting the death of a person, who died after being hit by a police bus in the area, today. Hundreds of people, mostly youth, took to streets, after the police bus hit a private car resulting in injuries to three people. The injured were rushed to a local hospital where one of them identified as Nadeem died. The eyewitnesses told mediamen that the police deliberately hit the car.

People staged anti-India protests in Nowhatta, Gojwara and Sekidafar areas of Srinagar, where clashes were witnessed between the protesters and Indian police. A youth was injured when Indian troops opened fire to disperse peaceful protesters in Sopore town.

A large number of government employees on the call of the forum patronised by illegally detained veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, held a demonstration at Lal Chowk in Srinagar to protest against the human rights violations being committed by the troops in occupied Kashmir.

The authorities continued to place the APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi under house arrest.

Human rights groups in Srinagar told mediamen that Indian police have threatened the Facebook users in the occupied territory to stop uploading pictures and stories about the happenings in Kashmir. The users are receiving threatening calls from the police asking them to be ready for dire consequences.

On the other hand, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred one more innocent Kashmiri youth in Gurura area in Bandipora district.
